I was visiting a web site(for a radio program)and going through some links
had a few popups I started to click on a link when suddenly a box appeared under my pointer that asked if I wanted to change my home page to "robofind" of course by the time I noticed it was too late my thumb was already in motion. Of course it was no problem changing back but it still made me mad. This stuff is really getting out of hand.
One simple solution......turn off JavaScript and ActiveX.....or use something other than IE as your browser.
And are you sure things are Ok?
Have you rebooted since changing back?
Many of these hijackers reinstall themselves on reboot unless they are thoroughly hunted down and killed like the vermin they are.
Go grab a program called Hijack This! (http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.html) and one called Startup List (http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.html) and run them.....either post or PM me the logs....
Looking over the logs you sent me I didn't see any leftovers....so I think you got lucky and nipped it in the bud.
The only question I have is did you intentionally set your search page ti Lycos?
Because that is the only thing I saw that wasn't "standard".

Wonder how many people use the trusted sites option in IE; know I didn't for a long time. With sites like this I have most features enabled and then add say, www.pcguide.com, to them. For the internet zone have everything either disabled or set to prompt and then you are much safer when browsing unknown territories.

:) mjc thank you very much for your help. It took me a few minutes to figure out:confused: the lycos thing. Thats what comes up when you click search on the tool bar, which I never use. I dont remember setting it that way but may have in a moment of insanity.:D
Again thanks for the help and links. I am going to study the logs and see if I can figure out what it all means(some I already have). you are
