Hi everybody,

How to download the windows xp update files to the hard disk for later installation? There used to be an url for win 98 (for corporate users if i remember right).

Thx.

The XP service pack is here:

XP SP1 (http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/default.asp)

Updates and hotfixes for all MS products can be downloded from here:

Technet security hotfixes (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/current.asp)

Thx GH,

What i wanted was to avoid downloading winupdates thro automatic update facility and risk losing them,if & when i re-install windows. I.e. the ability to save the update, hotfix files to the local disk or removable disk for later installation.

Just now, found this MS KB Q323166,which gives a step-by-step way of doing exactly that.

Thx again.

If ya want to disable autoupdates and other MS "features" you can use this:

XP ANTISPY (http://www.xp-antispy.de/index.html?/news.htm)
