View Full Version : Win98 startup disk problem

I wish to reinstall WIN98 but the startup disk hangs after hitting "with CD rom support" after the first two items have appeared on screen. I just get a flashing cursor and it won't budge further. Start up floppy works fine in my other machine and floppy drive normally works in offending machine.
Can't work this out at all! Any help gratefully received.

fdisk & format c:/u/c/s if starting afreash .
Over the top , do it from explorer .

Do you have two CD ROM devices on this machine? Like one CD ROM and one CD burner? If so try disconnecting the burner, it might be having trouble trying to figure out which one to install drivers for.
jmatt: He has to be able to boot to the floppy to fdisk and format...

Try this link for some info from MS I believe it may have to do with the generic cd rom drivers on the startup disk. http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q188/1/27.ASP
ps-If you use the format procedure provided by jmatt add a space after c:
