continuous beeps

My monitor's screen says "no signal input or cable disconnected." I thought it was the video card, bought a new one, which was not the problem and I also make sure that the IDE cable is connected. Also my PC is making this continuous beeps, I have to turn off the power switch from the back of the tower. I even tried taking out my hard drive and placing it in my friend's computer..IT WORK!! Please help.

do you Know what Bios you have??? continuous beep could be a motherboard prob. or PSU.processor or memory fault??? Are you able to try another monitor on your machine and or try your monitor on a different machine.If your monitor works on another computer it is likely a bad video card,If another monitor works on your computer it is likely a bad monitor.

You could try reseating your RAM. If nothing then try it in a different slot. A little history would help. Is this a new build? Motherboard and RAM maker. More info will help everyone focus in on the problem better.

You don't have a bad monitor.

You most certainly have a failure to complete the POST and the beeps [instead of the single beep at succesful POT] are the BIOS's POST failure code to indicate the nature of the problem.

Because the POST does not complete, the video card is not enabled and no signal is sent to the monitor. [Of course, in addition, you might also have the signal cable not pushed fully home or it could also be faulty. All three must be ok for it to work.] With my monitor this warning [which comes up when no signal is being received by a powered-up monitor] is shown only at the second attempt to boot.

I had a situation where an old and worn fan caused POST to fail and the monitor to display this.

The usual procedure is to strip the PC down to motherboard, video and keyboard. If it still fails to POST [and beep once] you have a problem with either the PSU or something in or on the motherboard.
