My computer runs Win98 SE OS.
When I run Windows Explorer I can see all drives(C:\ and D:\)
D: drive is my CD-ROM unit. When I insert any CD into CD-ROM drive
it says me: device is not ready.
What do I have to do?!?!
The same thing happens when I try boot up my computer by A: drive using
a boot disk obviously

Go to My computer->control panel->system->device manager and click on cd-rom, then click on properties. Check if the device is working properly. Click on driver and see if that working, you may try update driver and use microsoft device driver.

Try the same for floppy.

The other thing you can try, load windows in safe mode(press F5 before windows logo pops), then follow My computer->control panel->system->device manager and click on cd-rom, delete the device then restart your computer, windows should find the cd-rom and load drivers for it automatically.
Same for floppy.
