Please help!
I've just installed a new elite K7S5A WITH onboard graphics mainboard duron 1300, 256 MEG SD RAM,sound blaster audio pci 128,voodoo3 graphics card. The trouble is that every now and again when I boot up I get a number of beep codes which vary from 2short to 8 short with an error message saying memory error and underneath that cmos memory error If i do get into the bios all the writing is everywhere and doesn't make sense but this doesn't happen all the time sometimes it boots up fine .Also during boot up when it boots up okay it says checking nv ram then below that it says ram ok i don't quite understand what the nv ram is. Ive also tried disabling onboard sound but after that everything went pear shape. in device manager under other devices it has a question mark and then pci multimedia device, i haven't got a clue what that device is. I have not upgraded my motherboard before so this is all new to me so any help is welcome.

Read this
http://www.pcguide.com/ref/mbsys/bios/compCMOS-c.html
"NVRAM" = "Non-Volatile RAM" or "CMOS Memory".

Did your new motherboard come "batteries not included"?

Perhaps you have no battery to keep your CMOS memory alive.
Check it.

Well, if you are getting BIOS beep warnings, you better start over buy removing any added hardware and going step by step from the motherboard manual for setup. After checking all the MB settings and booting to floppy a couple of times, reconnect your drive, then start adding in any hardware, if you have a different memory chip, you might try swapping chips too.

Usually beep codes can be found somewhere in the manual ro at the MBs website....
