I just upgraded my motherboard to an ASUS A7V133 and my processor to a Athlon XP 1600+ (I had to get a new sound card, too, since the new MB doesn't have onboard sound :) ) Anyway, That was just a couple of days ago. Since then, I have had it reboot itself several times, for no apparent reason. I don't recall the exact circumstances from the other times, but this last time my sister was playing Sim City 3000 and the screen went blank and the computer rebooted. Could this be because of the new MB? I've never had an ASUS before and it's got a lot of extras my old MB (an AZZA KT133TX) didn't have. Any ideas? Thanks!

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention other specifics.
I'm running WinME (same as before and didn't have this problem then), with 320MB pc133 SDRAM. I have a nVidia TNT2 32 MB AGP video card, and a 38GB samsung HD.

I would check out HEAT as the possible culprit. Did you upgrade cooling when you upgraded the mobo? Do you have a handy way to check CPU and internal temps? You can try running the comp with the case open and a table fan blowing on it to see if the problem occurs again. If it does, then heat is probably not the issue.

I got a brand new cpu fan to go with the new mobo and processor, plus the case has five additional fans. Otoh, it hasn't rebooted since then. <shrug>
Thanks, though.

Ok, heat is probably not the problem then. The next thing I would look at is the RAM. You might want to test it to make sure it is all good. It wouldn't take much funky RAM to make the PC start acting strange.
After that, I would look at whatever you have running in the background. mjc recommends a program that will tell you in detail what is running, but I don't have the link handy. It may be in the list of programs he has in the Security Forum. I think it is called Startup Monitor or something like that.

The program is Startup List and you can get it here (http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.html)....

ASUS boards are reliable, but extremely fussy during setup. They also have an appetite for certain types of RAM.
Would you mind listing what peripherals you have and in which of the PCI slots you have them set up?
What brand of RAM are you running and how much?
You could check your system information in ME and see how much Available System Memory you have once you're up and running.

double check ur video card.
try safe mode, remove the driver and install a new one.
Get any driver between 21.83 to 40.72.
30.82 WHQL will be the best for TNT2.
Check out nVIDIA's site.
