The computer just died one day. All at once, the monitor went blank and the fan spun down. Obviously, it was the power supply. I replaced it with the wrong one, then the right one. Now when you power up, the fans all spin, the drives light up, but there's no video. I put in a new video card to no avail. I switched the memory around. One set produces three beeps, the other makes no sound at all. Nothing will convince the monitor to show anything at all. Incidentally, the only things connected are the video card, two sticks of RAM, keyboard and mouse, and monitor. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

how about trying it with one stick of ram (ie try each one alone)

Nope, didn't work. It gives me a 3 beep POST, which I believe means a memory error. The saga continues...
More info on the system: P4 ATX intel mobo

Not sure I follow you on this. only an ATX PSU will hook up to an ATX Board?? could you elaberate a little more on the PSU?
It sounds like you have shorted out something on the board maybe the memory sockets??
Have you tried the monitor on another system??
do you know which Bios?

Hmmm, sounds like you have the same symptoms as my problem that I wrote about on Friday. Did you leave yours running for awhile before you started noticing the no POST problem?? I also tried disconnecting and reconnecting all the cables to no avail. I'm currently waiting on parts such as a power supply which I'll try first (hoping this is the problem), another processor which I'll try second and a new motherboard if all else fails. I'm putting my bets on either the power supply or the processor. Hopefully yours is still under warranty also?? ;)

I replaced the power supply with a power supply without the 5v and 12v connectors. Yes, I likely did damage to the board as the video card, motherboard and at least one stick of ram were damages. Live and learn, huh. Well, I decided it was high time to put in a AMD 2000 processor. Everything is working out okay. I'm finishing the drivers tomorrow.
Hope you all have better luck.
