View Full Version : How come DOS programs run so slow on W2k?

Hi everyone,

How come DOS progrmas run so slow on Windows 2000 pro. I was using Windows 98 on a p 350, I just upgrade this PC to a 1.3Mhz w/Windows 2k, Thinking I will be flying. Not the case, it's running so slow. There is anyting that I can do. Or just need to get back tp Win98?

I will Appreciate any suggestions or ideas.

Well, for starters, you will probably have to trim what services are running by default....go here for that: www.blackviper.com.

Second and most importantly, 2k runs DOS on a "virtual machine"...in other words DOS, not being native to 2k or used by it, is not run directly on your hardware, but but some software that emulates a computer. And by default uses the same settings for every program you run...
