View Full Version : Watege capacity of power supply

Here in local market only available power supplys are 250 for upto p3 pcs and for p-4 pcs 300w.I dont know how much watts are nessassay for individual parts like cd rom, cd-wr, flopy drive, hdd and others so i cant calculate tottal wattege for the particular pc. Is it available anyware? It may help me to know spare watts of a pc

Just get the biggest one you can find. The computer will only use as much as it needs, so it's not like a 300W power supply will always use 300W. What are you putting in this PC anyway? A P4? What video card? How many drives?

Make sure it's a name-brand power supply, too. Like Antec or Sparkle or something like that. Cheap power supplies can cause many PC problems, and it's hard as heck to track it down!

Somewhere on the forums is a post that lists the approximate wattage of various parts, from drives to fans. I'll look for it...
