new laptop needs to be connected

Hey guys

heres teh setup

room1:
router connected to the wan and family pc connected to router

room2:
my desktop pc connect to the router(used a 50 foot cable)

all fine and dandy

Now i ordered a new laptop, and want to hook it up to the LAN.

i use a linksys 4 port router.

I dont want to strech another 50 foot cable to the router...

I hear you can somone make a connection using another nic to a another pc.

Can anyone explain to me what to do

It would proabally be easier to set up a 50ft cable or wireless setup. However you can do this.
you will need an additional network card in the PC you want the laptop to go to, this CAT5 cable connection will need to be crossed over. And if you running NT or Windows 2000 on this PC (not sure about Win 9x editions) You can basically setup an additional network between the 2 PC's. I cannot tell you off the top of my head how to go about the exact settings, but in the end you will have 2 LAN connections and a WAN (to the net).
You can still use the same workgroup or domain. Its basically the same as setting up your standard LAN.
