i'm kinda looking for one of those "shoot your friend" kinda games taht you can play over the net. is counter strike really popular? i have a cable modem at home so i am more than capable of playing games over the internet. tell me which ones are the most popular cause they're lots of fun but i dunno which ones are good over the net games! thanks~
Counter-strike is still fun, lots and lots of people still play it, you might want to take a look at some of the other mods that are being created too, like Natural Selection etc. etc. Just keep in mind that any mod based on Half-life will probably have problems with cheaters. If you have a fast PC you might want to look into battlefield 1942, I play that game alot, nothing is more fun than plowing over people with a sherman tank. :D It all depends on what type of game that you are looking for and how powerfull your PC is.

Ouch!!!
11 mb video (onboard intel chipset thingy)
That's gonna hurt!
Unreal Tournament is a sweet First Person Shooter...and the new version UT2K3 (Unreal Tournament 2003) is pretty cool too. Soldier Of Fortune is good...Medal Of Honor Allied Assault and Return To Castle Wolfenstein are all good games for online play! BUT no way you're gonna be able to play any of them with that kind of video :(
If you're serious about playing these type games...check your motherboard for available expansion slots..preferrably an AGP slot!

Hmmm... jjoel, I think you can get Unreal Tournament (the first one) to be playable, as long as you run it at 640 x 480 in 16-bit color with all the details down to the minimum.
I once got QuakeII to run an ol' P166MMX system (with 48MB RAM and 1MB onboard video) at 512 x 384! The details were pretty spartan, and I still got the occasional choppiness, but it was otherwise quite playable! :D
On the other hand, my current Athlon 1.2GHz with 768MB PC2100 RAM and GeForce2 Ti can barely play UT 2003 at 640 x 480. The frame rate is still in the gutter. :(

If I were you i'd try to find a decent video card (geforce or radeon) that is fairly cheap (unless you feel like spending more $$). Right now your system's bottlneck is the video processor. You'd have a lot more fun playing games if you just got a new video card. I run a geforce 2 and and a radeon something on another comp and i dont have any problems with choppiness.
goodluck

I also want to mention that counter-strike rocks!

Any of the HalfLife mods should work OK. They mostly have pretty low system requirements.
The one I am most heavily involved in is Day of Defeat. It's a World War Two shooter, with some great maps available and a thriving and very helpful community.
Cheating is thankfully, less prevelant in DoD than it is in many other HL mods, like CS.
In the last release, beta 4.0, "Para_" style map gameplay was introduced, incorporating New objectives and a slightly different respawn system.
A much anticipated update is due for release in the next while, beta 5.0.
You can get more details from www.dayofdefeatmod.com
Try it, you'll luv it.......!!!!.
Hey CuRaToR.....you must be a Metallica fan, huh?. Me too......."Wherever I may roam" rox!!!!
