A friend of mine have a laptop with WinXp installed.
He had installed some Games.
Now his laptop is asking for the CD to repair the Os.
It says it cannot find some files in c:\windows\(not sure of the directory and files). It just wont boot. It doesn't have a boot to dos option so i don't know if the directory is really deleted.

Now just a simple question, What could have happened?
Why did MS removed the Command prompt only option in their new Windows versions?Dos' kinda handy sometimes do you agree?

You may want to try the Recovery Console (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/using/productdoc/en/recovery_install_console.asp) or do a System Restore to before the problems started.

You may need to check your BIOS so that booting to the CD is enabled.

WinXP, Win2K etc may have a command prompt but have no true DOS. WinME does have true DOS but the system has to be tweaked to be able to boot to it. M$ would like to be able to say goodbye to DOS, whatever anyone's views on that are.
