I had Win98 on my computer and used Partition Magic to skrink the primary and allow room to install Win2k. I had some problems installing Win2k (I think the CD is corupted) and so now when I boot my computer there is a menu to boot Win2k or Win98 and Win2k is chosen by default so if I start my computer it will try to go into Win2k. There is no Win2k installed.
How can I get rid of that menu so it will boot Win98? Or at least change the default so that Win98 will boot from the menu without selecting it.

I can't answer your main question, but I do have a comment. If your Win2K disk is original, it is unlikely that it is corrupted unless the disk itself is damaged. Once a CD is written, the only way to change it is physical damage (unless it is CDR or CDRW of course). This suggests that you may need to just try to install again.

since you changed the partition info with PM going the fdisk /mbr route could possible wipe out your 98 partition also......

So you need to look for a file named boot.ini and then manually edit it....you can remove both the 2k lines and set the default to 98.

.. or to go back to a single boot:-

Boot to Win98. Delete boot.ini, ntldr, ntdetect.com, and ntbootdd.sys (if it exists) Reboot into a bootable floppy (startup disk, etc) and at the A:\ prompt, type sys c: Reboot normally and then delete or reformat the partition you had for Win2K using PM.

Info:- Boot.ini etc are hidden/system files and may be read only. They are all found in the C: root directory.

Had problems myself first time round and got a faster, cleaner install by copying the install files to the HDD and ran the install from there; you can also just install into unallocated space, without making a partition for Win2K in advance.

How do I get Dos and Win98 to coexist happily on my hardrive?
