I bought my mom a bare bones system from a local computer show and took it to her house and configured it. I finished and then got a floppy failure (40) error on boot up. It makes me hit F1 to continue. I swapped out the floppy and it worked fine for a while. Then all the sudden, you guessed it, another floppy disk failure (40). It is an off brand mother board and seems very finicky. It would not accept a creative labs modem blaster. It finally accepted a Diamond Supra. Any one have any ideas? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif
When you replaced the drive did you replace the cable?
Try here (http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000426.htm), and here (http://www.pcguide.com/ts/x/comp/fdd/index-i.htm) for troubleshooting tips.

Well this is rather troubleing. this is already the second floppy drive I've installed. This doesn't look good does it?
Well if you replaced the cable with drive then I'd say no, not to encouraging but cheap floppies can be DOA.

I'll try a new floppy and cable and see what happens. Thanks alot.
If you can try one of the other floppies in a different computer. That way you'd know if it is really the drive or something else.

Yea that is what I am going to do. I sure hope it doesn't work in the other computer. I would rather buy a floppy drive and cable than buy a mother board.
