I have a modem in Win95 that is acting crazy. It is a Compaq Presario 288 and its kicking my butt. There are no com or IRQ conflics that I can see. The device manager reports that it is working properly. However, I receive and AT5,6,7 error in the Diagnostic. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hello revjapaca. Did you just install the modem or was it already working and then quit? If you have a legacy modem meaning not plug and play which means you can change the IRQs, try changing the IRQ for the modem to a different irq.
Modems will not work on certain IRQs it should be in the manual where the IRQ should be if you do not have manual go to driverguide.com to find the manufacturers website. And find the manual.Go in to Device Manager and under your modem and uncheck automatic settings then hit the down arrow where it says basic configuration and try a different configuration.
Also check to see if phone line is working properly and phone jack and that its plug in to the right line on the modem. Post back and tell me what happens.

What are the errors it is reporting (any more info about them would be helpful)?

Also like diurnal said, what kind of modem is it?

What other problems/symptoms are there?
