Well the subject really says it all...on hold with Linksys right now...

I can connect to my wireless connection after I set it up. If I turn the computer off and come back several hours later, it won't work. It says that it is connected, but I can't get to the router, internet, or even ping other IPs on the LAN.

Add to this the fact that one of the systems that is connected to the router via CAT 5 does the same thing and I'm beginning to think the router may be defective. The only way to fix these connections is to reset the router.

This has only started since the replacement of my wired router with the wireless one and other computers on the LAN seem to access the internet just fine after hours of down time (as they should)...

Anyway, not necessarily looking for answers, just wanted to give the other side of how great wireless networking is...

Well, after a firmware upgrade all seems well. Mind you I did this before talking to Linksys and they recommended flashing it back to the original version even though that was the version it had when all the problems were there...

I mainly called to see if they had heard of a problem like mine and if it indicated faulty hardware. No sense trying to troubleshoot a broken router. You'd think I'd know better than to call tech support at this point.

Wireless is great when it works, but when it doesn't...time to break out the whisky...

Thanks yoda...going on two days now and (hate writing this) it still works...

It is really cool when it works...as far away as I can get in my house is still 11mbps range...

And I'm using a mac address lockout that only allows registered wireless mac addresses to connect to the lan so my neighbors can't spy :p

YEp this is very true with all tech support. It seems I know more than them in every category. You know its bad when you start asking, or pointing them into a directions. Then they agree on your points, thats when you hang up.

but when it doesn't...time to break out the whisky...
Lol Nicely put, i need to remember this. I sometimes forget about the whiskey. Then i get madder. Whiskey should do the trick.:D
