I've seen these processors at the local bestbuy, and some local 'puter shops. i went to their website( evergreennow (http://www.evergreennow.com)) and best i can tell they're marketing generic replacements for everything from 486 to athlon's?! Anyone had any experiance with these chips? I thought about getting one of the performa 700 for my old epox/slot1 celeron 266/66 fsb. It's beeen a little good little trooper http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif , but it's starting to show it's age , tested one too many programs on it! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif

Don't know too much about the Evergreens, they have been around for a while, and the 486 chips seemed to have a fairly decent reputation. I've never used any of them myself, and don't have any first-hand info about them, all I can do is repeat what I've seen posted on another forum related to older or obsolete computers, the folks who hang out there seem to have a fairly decent opinion of them.

Yeah! Got the link to the forum? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

I too am interested in this type of upgrade as my Compaq is just about worthless these days for anything that has to do with my music. I'm still at work so I haven't been able to check to 'prequalification' standards as of yet. But I'm unable to locate my particular model (Presario 5020) in there reference for 'upgradable machines'. Not a good sign at all.

I have one question though... I'm interested in the Performa Upgrade (read:Celeron), and the more I read about this thing, the more I see this term 'Celeron "sitck" '... What the heck is a 'stick'? Do they mean Slot 1?

The help is always appreciated...

Cory
