I think you'll find that 98se istill popular. I have w2000 on this pc as well, but still prefer to use 98se.

w2000 is more stable (but slower) me (uh) xp seems to be up & coming, so long as all your progs will run on it ! & there seems to be a lot of interest in Linux, but I had probs with it & have not re-installed.

I think there was a poll a while back on the subject, but why not do another ?

Lot of people are still using it. It is generally more reliable and easier to work with than WinME. It is not as stable as Win2k or XP, but it doesn't have as many little annoyances either. For older systems, it is often the best choice. For newer systems, I would go with Win2K if possible, but I am installing XP in a system for my sister because it should be more reliable once I tweak some of the bugs out.

Windows 98SE is still a very reliable operating system. With the updates, you can still do most of the things that Win2K And XP can do, as far as software, games, and multimedia.

I made the mistake of upgrading to ME which was a disaster once I realized all of the bugs. I then went to Win2K which proved to be stable. If your PC is slower than 450MHZ I would recommend staying at Windows 98. It runs very well with 98 at those speeds.

Microsoft will continue to provide the necessary updates for Windows 98 support, as well as the hardware vendors.
