Hello and welcome Rene,
A few more system specs would be helpful, as would the exact error message.
What is it, exactly, that you updated?

Big Cheese! Thanks for interest. Up dated Explorer to 5.00- the whole ball of wax. Needed upgrade for Voice Express. Voice Express runs great. Now "Run" will not operate-function. Error Msg is: Shell32.DLL fault followed by a long list of info, mostly coded letters and numbers. An invalid page fault in module SHELL32.DLL. Thanks again. Rene

Start/Run-Config
What are you trying to run? msconfig maybe? Without a much clearer idea what you're trying to do and what happens when you try to do it, we're hard pressed to give you any definitive answers.
If you are sure it's a problem with IE, you can go to Start\Settings\Control Panel\Add/Remove Software and scroll down to Microsoft Internet Explorer and Internet Tools and run the INternet Explorer Repair tool. Highlight the IE and Internet tools line and click the Add/Remove button, then read the options. One should be Repair Internet Explorer.
If that does not help give us a clearer idea what you are trying to do and what the exact error message is you're dealing with.

Thanks Pete, Nice to know you are out there. Have done all that you suggest. Even more- have used CD-Restore+Windows Reinstall-twice. Same fault msg.
Shell32.DLL/close/then msgs says: IE has committed MORTAL Sin-will now close window.
Am going to Recycle Bin on Desktop-2c or rc and open-same fault msg.
Will go to Windows Explr/C:\/Windows-same fault msg.
Tried activating Recycle Bin via Windows- same fault msg.
Have adjusted Registy- by following explicite instructions from IE tech- no change-same msg.
Have removed/reinstalled IE 5.5 twice-have dropped levels of IE-to 5.01-then to 5.0 then back to 5.5- no luck same fault msg.
Thinking about Windows MI, however, need to keep Windows 98 for intstuction purposes. [studying constantly] Need all the help possible.
Is possible to have installed both W-98 and W-MI ? Rene

The whole purpose of this research prject is to learn other methods of repair. Will truggle on, trying diff processes, and hopfully will learn a bit more re: maintainence, repair, trouble shooting. Am old timer to trouble shooting, however, not in the computer world.[Electronic Equipe of various types and purposes. Yet, need to learn much in the computer world. You are very fortunate to have the knowledge at your finger tips. Will struggle on. Keep the info "streaming"- you guys know alot. Rene
