View Full Version : Downloading
Hi All,
I just tried downloading the latest drivers for my graphics card.
Which I hav'nt upgraded for months.
I'm doing this from the Elsa site.
It's not telling me where the file is going on my comp.
How big the file is and how long it will take.
All I get is a little icon bottom left of the screen above the start button.
I'm not getting the usual screen of where to send the file.
Any ideas.
OS XP Pro/ ME.
Thanks,
kfh.

Hi there kfh
What downloader are you using?
Have you actually downloaded the files? If so do a complete search for them on your computer (all drives/partitions).
Have you tried right clicking the icon? It might give choice to save there.

Most likely the driver is being down loaded to the Windows or the Windows System folder (it most likely, wont work in any other folder)The driver is most likely around one mega byte more or less (aboute one floppy) and should take about 10 minutes depending on the speed of you internet provider and how maney people are on line at the time.

looks like the site you are downloading from is using automatic driver updating. Does its ask you to restart the comp at last. If its the case, try searching in the temporay folder and/or temporary internet files folder within the windows folder. If not, Let us know if you are using manual downloading, what download managers are you using.
Hi All,
I've not downloaded the file yet as it is 12+ megs.
As I'm now back on dial up.
I'm just using windows to download.
Tried right clicking icon no joy.
Thanks,
kfh.

oh, I now now know what your problem is, the link is not a direct link.
Give me the address of the website from where you are trying to download the drivers. Just go to the website, go to the page containing the drivers link and copy the address from the address bar and paste it here. I think its nVIDIA card that you are using and you are talking about the new detonator drivers. Also mention for which os you are trying to download the drivers(XP or ME). I checked out the elsa site www.elsa.com(just a guess) for you but I'm not sure if that is the one.
Just give me the address and I'll give you the direct link.
Hi CuratoR,
This is the link http://www.elsa.com.tw/e/driver/index.htm
And it's xp drivers.
Thanks,
kfh.

Hey kfh,
there are a heck lot of XP drivers in that page, which one do you want?
like Elsa Professional Graphics==> Gloria4 900XGL, Gloria4 700XGL, Gloria DCC, Elsa Consumer Graphics==> Elsa Gladiac 925, ELSA Gladiac 725 etc.
Which one do you want?
All the links to the driver given in the left are direct link, so it should be no problem.
All the drivers given there are the latest detonator drivers from the nVIDIA's site.
Download it straight from here.
http://download.nvidia.com/Windows/40.72/40.72_winxp_WHQL.exe
Hope this helps! :)
PS: It will be better if you use some download managers to download files from internet. Download Managers make download faster and you can stop, resume the download whenever you like. You can resume after even if the line gets disconnected. Try this one (FlashGet) at http://www.flashget.com/download.htm Its for free. Click "Download FlashGet 1.40 (1729K)" from the page in the given link.
Flashget installs the Aureate/Radiate ad/spyyware client.....but other than that it is a great dl manager.
Star Dwonloader (http://www.stardownloader.com/) is very similar, but contains no bundled adware/spyware.

well, not for me. I'm using FlashGet and Download Accelerator Plus. Both of them are registered retail versions. I know how to kick those ad/spywares in the ***, anyway. ;)
