I really hope you didn't get that notice of critical updates by email and try to go there through links in the email. If you did, get your antivirus and spyware scans going NOW!! That is a fake and malware.

If you got it through legitimate channels, I would just try back and see if you can go during a time when it is less likely to be busy.

Hi Bud, No this came from MS on notification [system tray]. I can now get to site but won't download. I'm sure your right and that it's busy, but this has been happening alot with updates the last couple of weeks. Can get to site but then things either take forever to download or don't download at all. I think it's them not me.
If I only had a life :D Mark

Between MS changing things around and restructuring the site and how busy it normally is I am surprised that anyone can actually get through....

Have you tried finding the update and manually downloading it?

I've been to there site after you mentioned it and aparently not allowing down loads or it is real buisy. they won't load for me either

OK it's working now you may want to wait until this evening or when there isn't so much traffic.

Ha! Funny you guys should mention this- I just got notice of two critical updates before I checked out "the guide". (I have it set up to notify me but not install anything)

They're probably the same updates you guys are talking about.
Anyway, after reviewing them, I attempted to download both and they failed.

Then, I tried one at a time and was able to sucessfully download one but not the other. Must be something with the site being busy as mentioned or the DL itself.

NOW- Here's the funny part. Before I saw this thread, I was going to ask you guys if you knew a way to get rid of the "Installation failed" entrys in my "view installation history" in Windows update.

This is nitpickin' to the extreme!!! :p I have had a few "failed downloads" in windows update before, but was always able to try it later and was "successful".

I just hate to view my history and see the word "failed" rather than "successful". (Even though there are two entries-The first "failed" one, and the same eventual "successful" one.)

How's that for being a fussy pain in the neck! :D (They don't call me nutcase for nothin')
Any ideas?
(No biggie now that I've made a big deal out of it). :p

I'll try that other DL later. But Geesh.....I would hate to see another "failed" entry in my installation history.

(Edit) BTW- You probably already know by now, but we're talking XP Pro here. :)

Hey nut I don't believe there is a way to change the failed entry's seems it's on there site. it is good if you forget you failed one. But I Know what ya mean Picky picky picky.

Yea, I think you're right YODA...Guess I'll just have to put my "failures" out of my mind! :D

HeHe...Like the airbag.

I ran all the updates for win98 a few days ago with no problems although it did take a me a couple of times before I got directed to the update page.
