dunno what this friggin winblows has done to me again but just when everything was going smooth and nice apparently Windows decided "ohh n-n-n-n-no no we can't have that now can we?"..

Anyway I cannot remove (via the add/remove programs) or install (via setup.exe setup.msi etc..) ANYTHING anymore and here is the magical message I recieve:

"The windows installer service cannot be accessed. This can occur if you are running windows in Safe Mode, or if the windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personell for assistance"

What support personel I'm a friggin home user ROFL. How IRONIC "windows installer is not correctly installed". Well anyway if anyone can lend a helping hand that would be appreciated as I REFUSE to re-install wincrap I swear to God if I have to do that with 5 partitions spread over a 160G HD then all hell is gonna break loose. =(

probably the result of a damaged registration service.

Open a CMD.EXE prompt.
Type msiexec /unregister and press Enter.
Type msiexec /regserver and press Enter.

if that doen't work try
Go to Start/Run, and type

regsvr32 msi.dll

then

Go to Start/Run, and type

SFC //SCANNOW

Here is a Microsoft fix (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q315346) for that problem.

Holy mother of flowers you guys are quick on your toes.. I already found it in the knowledge base myself (I didn't find it before because I totally ****** up my search string and it came up with no results so I was like ***). But I really appreciate the information and yes, it is accurate!

NICE!

I just did a quick search with the first part of the error message in Google. I was just sitting here killing time while waiting to go for an out-patient surgery [(Tell me I don't have a life :)] Anyway, my gall bladder and 4cm stone are about to be removed.

I can see removing the second part of my last reply, but the words "holy", "mother", and "flower" ?? WHAT THE İİİİ? Hehe, oh well anyways, speedy recovery to you Reid.. This is so strange because just today I felt this funny little lump in the right side of my neck and it kinda got me a little... TERRIFIED. Anyway, i gotta go check it out hope it's nothing serious. But its really like twilight-zone man first I feel this lump... then a few hours later I get a scumbag telemarketing call for some kind of "free" medical service (obviously a scam as are 102% of telemarketing calls but i NEVER heard anything like this 'medical' call before), AND NOW, you're having something removed.. CRAZY!

Well anyway.. good luck.

There is one board I frequent where the editing is done by the board software.......and boy does that lead to some strange posts.

Ok, maybe I did get carried away....I'll put that part back.
