I have purchased an older COmpaq Presairio system and I have reformatted the HD and reinstalled 98 SE without problems. When I boot the the computer the big Compaq Logo appears is there any way to remove this?
It is in the Bios.
Unless you can replace that your stuck with it..
My Dell does the same thing.
At least Other bios allow you to disable the branding splash creen

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif
I would urge you to leave it alone. On older Compaqs the BIOS setup info is kept in a small section of the hard drive. If you delete this, you will lose the logo, but you will also lose the ability to access and change things in the BIOS. This can be corrected, but it is a hassle and you will end up with the logo again.
You may be able to get the logo to stop loading with a BIOS setting.
