Hello!
Installed an Epson 1650 USB scanner, with "Smart Panel". Later installed a Brother MFC 4800, also USB. Both worked. Then I installed a Nikon Coolpix 950 camera and Nikon View 3something. This has a serial connection. Now neither the scanner nor the MFC are recognized. I've tried switching all the USB cables to make sure it's not a cable problem, but it's not. I was about to uninstall and reinstall the scanner and fax software in case it matters which order they were installed in, but I'm not sure it's going to help. The computer is: Win 98, Celeron 1 G, 512 MB ram, 2 USB ports on the back and a 4-port USB hub (doesn't seem to matter where anything is plugged in, though)
Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you!
Murphie

Sounds like a conflict with the camera software...have you tried uninstalling it (not the drivers, but the viewer)?

Dear MJC,
Thank you, sorry I've been so long in replying. It did work to uninstall and reinstall the camera first, then the MFC. I copped out and moved the scanner to another computer--it simply wouldn't install the drivers. Quite a hassle, a long time on the phone with Epson.
Someday I'll start a thread about installing and uninstalling...no time now...Thank you!
