This is kind of complicated but I'm having some problems with my ip address because I want to start an ftp server and when I do my computer only sees my local ip which is 10.0.0.2 but when I connect to a website it sees 63.xxx.xx.xxx which is what I want to use for running an ftp server. I've got dsl using a cisco router and a hub but in a few weeks we are getting cable using the hub, a cable modem, they said the router so we can connect multiple computers. I'm not sure what type of ip we have now but it never changes and the cable company said that we can't get a static ip and i've tried running software that points to your ip when your using dynamic but the problem is it's pointing to 10.0.0.2. Also under network properties in xp the ip shows as 10.0.0.2 and I tried manually entering 63.xxx.xx.xxx with the other setting but the net wouldn't work then. Basically I want to know if there is any way to get my computer to see it's ip as 63.xxx.xx.xxx instead of 10.0.0.2 to run a server and if the problem is in the cisco router configuration or if getting cable internet might fix this even if it's a dynamic ip that keeps changing.
