Older FIC PT-2003 Mainboard, but new. Will not detect CD-ROM as slave or master on either or seperate IDE Ports. Recognises Harddrive no problem. Tried new cables, different and known to be good CD-ROMs. Of course I've double checked all jumpers and detection modes. Verified latest Version of BIOS.
Unless anyone has an Idea I'm gonna flash the bios anyway and then I guess I'll trash the board.

Just a thought, but have you gone into Device Manager and enabled both IDE channels? I've found this to work with some older boards that I've worked on in school.

Contact the manufacturer, you could have a bad board. If it's new it should still be under warranty, maybe they'll replace it. Try the vendor it was purchased from first, then the manufacturer...

If your CD Rom has a "Cable Select" jumper setting........try that before you "Flash" the bios........I doubt it's the bios, after all, it's seeing the Hard Drive just fine.......seems more like a jumper/recognition problem to me than anything. An older Mobo often doesnt show the CD Rom in bios setup .....but the CD works just the same. Have you tried to use the CD rom with a Win98 Startup disk choosing "With CD support"??
