I really need your assistance please. The other day I started up my pc and went in to open up my internet server and the pc locked up. I attempted to try again and the same end results. I then tried to open up some folders and the pc locked up again, on each one. With each lock up I would get program shut down errors.
So, I shut down the computer figuring a file was bad in the windows OS. I reloaded windows. As I was reloading windows I started getting these errors.

You interupted setup while it was copying windows files from a setup (.cab) file. Under details it says, the following error ocurred setup interupted (error #65) setup could not finish copying a file. Source file "e:\win98\mshtml.dll" destination file "c:\windows\system\mshtml.dll=mshtml.dll"

This error appears at 20% - 25% of install.

I tried loading several versions of windows, W95, W98, W98 SE, Windows ME but these errors keep coming up during install.
I replaced my HD figuring I had back sectors in tracks, but still continued to receive errors. I took my mother board and CPU to get tested thinking it could be the problem. The tech done a bench test on it and came back telling me it was fine, but I had bad ram in it. So, I brought the mother board home and put the system back together (excluding bad ram ). Loaded windows on, same errors. I removed all of my controller cards except for video card and *still* continue to get these errors.

Does *anyone* have any idea what could be the problem? PLEASE HELP !!

I'm at the ends of my rope, I'm turning RED & BALD !!

Could it be your video card? I had a friend that had a GPF MSHTML.DLL and it was because of his video card. He updated his driver and all was well.
And you said that you removed all your controllers except your video card, so it might be an option. Have you tried standard vga? This is way out of my realm of knowledge, I haven't heard of this before, so consider that before doing anything.

Just let me tell you I know the feeling all to well. So you cant get the os loaded on the hard drive? Try disabling the virus protection in the bios. Hit del on start up and disable it. I think this could be the problem but sometimes os s will not go on certain motherboards. If disabling virus doesnt work try going to your motherboard site and they should have something you must disable in the bios for a particular os meaning 98 ME or 2000. Hope this solves the problem

Roxy,
Thank-you for the faith, but, please don't buy one just because I said it helped my friend out. I'm reaching here, and am only basing this on one instance. Either way please post back so we know what does/doesn't help and good luck! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Thank you for replying so quickly. I had already disabled the virus in the BIOS and had checked all MB settings. The OS has been running properly on this MB for at least a year until now anyway. I am going to try a new video card next. I've been working on pc's myself for 10 years and this is the first time I've run into this problem. I will update on anything I find. Thanks again

Microsoft has a knowlege base article for this problem. go to
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q226/3/25.asp

It looks as though you may need to upgrade to IE 5.01
