Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could pass along links to online shops they know of, or have dealt with, that sell used computers in the PIII range. They don't have to be top of the line. These machines will be used in a testing/lab type of environment on a home LAN. I have a few places I check out from time to time and have purchased from, but their inventory isn't showing anything at this time in my range. (some are too low end, others are too high end)

TIA...

I've just used eBay for that kind of thing. Caveat emptor, but some good deals to be had.

Look down at the bottom of the page. Maybe there's something you could use.

I have found eBay to most times end up more expensive than you can buy direct online and have greater warrantees too. Once in a while you can get lucky with eBay though. It's amazing how some people will bid till the item is overpriced what new would be, then they are obligated to make good on a deal that has little or no warrantee!!!

FTT's right. e-bay is fun & you can pick up a bargain now and again, but can easily go over the top.

the other thing to watch is postage, often costs more than the item is worth.

ITGL72,

Heh heh...you know what they say about great minds? ;)

If you can't find a complete system, you might want to put one together. The Comp.Geeks usually have the components for P3 systems pretty cheap. You can pick up a cheap case just about anywhere.

Well, barebone systems are usually something I look for too. Was looking at the AMD XP's (After pulling out the chart to see what speed they truly are) since they do have pretty good performance and are cheap. Other then the few that melted on me since they get HOT. I ended up picking something up at retrobox.com.

I'm back, rather then start a new thread, maybe I can get recommendations from online stores that sell intel/amd BAREBONE systems by continuing with this one? I know there are many of them but if you have a recommendation from personal experience that would be awesome. Thanks!

www.newegg.com is one of the most popular around here, although I am not certain they sell assembled systems. Directron and KDC get some good press around here as well. Whatever vendor you pick, I would urge checking them out at www.resellerratings.com before placing an order.
