Power Supply Failure?

The last few days my wife said she heard "clicking" or "ticking" when she started up the computer, but it would go away. Today when she pushed the start button absolutely nothing happened- no lights, beeps, fans, whirring, etc. Nothing.

I checked the power cord, tried a different one. The monitor, printer, etc all light up, so power is there. I opened it up and checked all the internal power connections- switch, plug to the board, etc, all look good.

Is a bad power supply the likely culpret?

Desktop, ABIT BX6, 450 mhz, Win 98. 250 watt power supply.

A bad power supply would certainly be very high on the list of likely suspects. If you have checked the power connections to the motherboard and they seem secure, the next thing would be to try a known good power supply and see if it works. If it doesn't, then post back and get more clues.
