Most Windoze programs are not directly compatible with Linux, but you can use WINE and access some Windoze programs. If you don't have it in your install, you can download it from Linux download sites.
I know there are connection managers and browsers for Linux and I suspect you already have one in your Mandrake install.

Linux has it’s own Chat, IM, and Players
if you are loading KDE just open the menu and go to network / WWW
You’ll find them
I don’t recall where they are in gnome
I don’t recall the name of the MP3 player but I know Mandrake has at least one
You'll just ahve to play with it a bit to find everything

If your Linux OS didn't come with the media players you need to do what you need, (I'll bet dollars to doughnuts it did) then I assure you that places like freshmeat.net and slashdot.org either have them or can get them.
If you're using dialup access, then KPPP is the ppp dialer that is the simplest to use in my opinion. Mandrake comes with a gazillion browsers like Mozilla (which I'm using now) and Galeon. If you're using cable or dsl, I've never configured that kind of connection and cannot help, but there is someone else here who can, and linuxnewbie.org is a great place for help as well.
Welcome to the dark side.

XMMS is the Media player, mp3 is a "universal" format.
There are several IM programs that will let you use your AIM account, ICQ accounts too.

Drivers in Linux are often tricky. You need to find out what type of modem you have and search Linux download sites for drivers. Keep in mind that Winmodems may not work with Linux at all.

If it will run under WINE or if there is a Linux version. Same story with any Windoze program.
