"A stupid question is a question not asked"
You have a winmodem (software) modem, chances are it will be very difficult to get it to work under any Linux.
But as a starting point....

Hi DwnMp3,
I really can't answer your question. I just wanted to provide a LINK (http://www.compgeeks.com/products.asp?cat=MDM) to where you can pick up a hardware modem if you need one. $12-$25 isn't all that bad if you have an ISA slot available.
The computer your working on now would be a good place to d/l the files to.. Then copy them to a floppy or better yet a cd-r
In Linux you can then place the floppy / cd in the drive.
It should auto mount then copy them to a folder for the install
You need to log on as Root to install these modem drivers
In windows you have autorun
In Mandrake you put a disk in a drive and it must be mounted to access the drive
Automount should work unless you have deleted the drive from the MNT folder
