When the game starts. in certain positions it will freeze/flicker. I can see that there is a game going on behind my initial screen view, and I still have control of that game allbeit in a very tiny portion of the screen, ie two games open at once. There is no sound on the first game that freezes but, all the intro sounds are OK. I am running a p3 with 128mb, 32mb graphics card, not sure about the sound card except, directX 9 diagnostic check tells me one of the drivers is not Quality approved by MS.
Incedently whenever I do a DirectX sound check, I loose all sounds till I re-boot???.
It`s not the end of the world, just a pain in the bum.
Thank`s in advance, Tomijon.

Do you shut down all but necessary programs running in the background?
Ctrl+Alt+Delete? Systray and Explorer are the ones usually left running...

Which OS?
And, have you tried the software website...often they have a forum that usually deals directly with conflicts and patches etc.

I have found a realy good fan site, with tech help, just waiting for my password before I pose the question. My OS is win98 SE.
I will let you know how I get on, Thank`s for the help.

One other thought is making sure that all your temporary Internet files are cleared before playing also...
You're not very flush on the RAM side of things which could have you using your swap file a bit more than you'd like to...that'll slow things down a bit!

I am just waiting for a reply from the tech forum at the fan site.(could take a while, not too many members)
There was a solution to my sound problem already answered, I needed to reset the DirectX sound accceleration from high to standard or basic, I chose basic. That sorted that but, wil this affect anything else in a bad way?
The stupid thing is I have played the game a couple of times without the sound and without any other problems, it`s as though sometimes it loads the game twice, one on top of the other.
Thank`s again. Tomijon.

Well, still no answer to my problem at the fan site, however, I have found that if I bypass the auto run or desktop icon and open the game from the icon within the games own file in explore it seems Ok. It crashes quite a lot and runs a bit slugish sometimes, do you think
this is lack of memory , Would another 128mb ram help?(I Have 128mb ram at the moment)
cheers, Tomijon.

I'd say you are definitely marginal on the RAM...
Once you're loaded up...check in System Information and see how much available system memory you have. Then, after you've loaded the game check it again...
Also, right click on My Computer>Properties>Performance Tab and see how your System Resources look...
Post back when you get the chance.... ;)

I have been closing all my other prog`s before starting the game, leaving me with 94% recources.
The problem I have now though is I have just uninstalled the game because, I was getting problems with other programes, everything was happening a split second after I clicked the mouse. You know that feeling when you know something is not quite right?? I did a virus scan that came up clear but, when I did a disk defrag, it stopped at 10%.
As I run only games from this particular drive, I thought because of all the problems I have had with the latest one it might be wise to uninstall it but, still no luck. I will ask for some advise in another section and get back to you.

Sorted the defrag problem, now to re-install Hitman and see what happens.
