I bought an Onkyo MSE-U33HB USB audio adapter for my Mac G4 a few weeks ago. It's an amazing $40 box that also has a USB hub and an actual KNOB for input level control.

This is a Mac-only product, but the secret is that it uses standard ASIO drivers so it works great on my Win-XP box without any additional drivers or any other hassle. I just plugged it in to the eMachines tower as we innocent Mac people are wont to do, and it recorded and played beautifully.

I bought mine at Fry's in Sunnyvale CA, but they've since removed them from the shelves and sell them through their web site

I have no relationship with Onkyo and a sour relationship with Fry's, but this is a knockout product for the price! It was a $200 product and I think it's discontinued, hence the low price.

I do hope that my success is not an isolated case and that the Onkyo box will work with any XP system that has been updated with the recent USB fixes. I'm pretty sure that it will.
