Hi , I recently installed a Zip250. Before doing so I had a C:, an A: and D: as the DVD-Rom. Now I have the same C:, same A: but the Zip250 as a D: and the DVD-Rom as an E:
Everything works fine but everytime i have to install a new Win98se feature the PC looks always in the D: instead of the new E: forcing me to use the Browse button (when available!). How can I "tell" to Win that the DVD-Rom is no more in D: but in E:? the registry? if yes how?
thank you

#!@$*%.....just format the damn C:
Here is a Link to a little Util. That will allow you to change the Install path ( SourcePath) for the Windows cab files.
Other wise you must use regedit to change the path

If you have the space on your Drive It is faster to Copy the Win98 folder to your hard drive.
Then use the Util. To point to that folder,

personally I'd regedit the problem. Look for InstallLocationsMRU under Keys and then Modify entries in the right hand pane to point to e:\ instead of d:\.
You can also use Partition Magics Drive Remapper to resolve the problem, it goes to look for all instances of now invalid drive and changes them to show the new location of the drive. Don't know how deep it goes but if it does the registry, .sys, .ini, .cfg, .log etc. etc. files it would make life easier when adding a new drive.
The other way to do it is to change the drive letters in control panel/system/device manager so that the zip drive follows on from the DVD drive and reset the DVD drive to its old letter.
I always install my CD/DVD drives to Z,Y,X etc as adding other HDDs then doesn't affect their drive letters, Windoze defaulting to adding new drive letters from the beginning of the alphabet as it does..

Putting the "Personally, mate, I'd chuck it out and get myself a new one.." into "PC".

Why not just reset the drive letters (switch them) in the Iomega tools? This is done in "My computer" so that the CD is back to the original drive designation? This is quick and easy. Go to

and follow the directions.
