Running Win2k w/sp3; when you move a start menu shortcut by drag and drop with administartor rights a warning dialog box comes up stating that it will affect all users. How do you get rid of that annoying box?

Turn off messanger service (not quite sure the exact name in 2k, but it provides those kind of system messages). No, not the IM messanger stuff, either.

That sounds too drastic. It would be the same if file protecrion was turned off to edit NTOSKRNL.EXE to replace the bitmap for the splash screen.

start > programs > admin.tools > services scroll down highlite "messinger" > right click the highlited line and choose properties. click the "stop" button. select disable or manual in the start up type scroll bar> click ok

not sure if this is exactly what your needing?

System messages are an all or nothing thing, when something happens that need one the messenger service handles it.
