Cheap DVD player/reader-compatible?

The "better-half" of this somewhat computer literate houshold has just received a new G4 Powermac for Christmas with a DVD-RW "superdrive".

Does anyone know what programs, if any are necessary to read "simple data" files written by this DVD-writer?

Is there a standard default data file-system? (not video/music)

Will any cheap PC-DVD player/reader be able to "read" these data-only DVDs?

We are mainly "Wintel PC heads" around here, I'm afraid.:)

Any current DVD drive and most current DVD players should be able to read it.
