System specs:
P-III 500 mhz w/256 mb RAM. d-link isa combo nic card. The network was coax now cat 5. Network has been in place for 15 months at this location and for over two years before that at a different locaction. NO Problems.
Internet access via DSL w/o software using a linksys router and a 3COM 8 port hub.
Main network protocol is Client for LANtasic networks. Please don't start a discussion on LANtastic. It is very easy to use and it's point and shoot.
The LANtastic works on ALL computers. Internet access on all computers except one which appears to have trouble intializing the TCPIP stack.
Cannot get internet access on this computer. It is NOT getting an IP address from the router and cannot ping other IP addresses on the network.
RUN winipcfg and get Fatal error cannot read IP configuration.
Uninstalled and reinstalled TCPIP w/o result.
Did a Google search and there are NO TCP/IP files in the Windows folder to delete only in the windows/system folder.
The call goes to Ghost Hacker and other network gurus as I am a little stumped as to why this would happen. I thought about replacing the card but the rest of the network is fine. I can search for a computer by name just not by IP address amd since this is the "server" and everyone can access the data I really feel this is an O/S software problem
Thanks in advance for your prompt responses to this unusual problem.
