View Full Version : New mail ... or not?

I use Outlook Express 6.0. Since the last few days something weird happens. I get a notification that I have new mail and a new mail icon appears. But when I go into OE to check my new email there is no new email. The only way to get rid of the envelop icon is to close Outlook Express and start it up again, after which the envelop is gone.

Anybody has any ideas or suggestions as to where to look or how to solve this?

It could be your ISP, some of them scan for viral infections and delelted the ones infected.

No, my ISP doesn't scan for virusses and I checked my pc with 3 different virus scanners and it is clean. So that's not it.

Hi,

Just a suggestion.

Have you set-up any rules or added any email addresses to the blocked/junk mail list ???

If I remember correctly the blocked senders emails go straight to the deleted items folder and maybe they still show as new emails.

You check this by going to "Tools - Message Rules - Blocked Senders list".

I don't have a blocked senders list so that's not it. But I've figured it out.

The new message icon but no new message, only happens when I send mail with OE through my IMAP account. I have unchecked the "sent items" line now when OE checks for new messages and the problem is gone. When I put a checkmark in front of the "sent items" line I get a the "new mail" notification but no new mail in my sent items although the sent message is there.
