Any C programmers out there catch the reference? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif Well, I know it's hard to get going on a new forum, so I thought I'd "break the ice". If you're reading this, don't be shy, register and jump on in!

Hi Charles,
PC Guide has been a great resource. I'm sure the forums will be equally helpful. Cheers, Harry
Hi Harry,
Thanks for the kind words and the reply. I hope more people will jump in here, seems like most everyone is so shy when you first get a discussion forum going. Maybe I should post something controversial to get everyone in a lather. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

Charles,
congratulations on your expansion into Forums. I'm sure that you will have a small community of regular posters going soon.
Cheers...Son of Zeus.
Hercules! Ladies and gentlemen, we have a bona fide hero in our midst. Or are you one of his *other* sons... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
Thanks for the kind wishes. Things are actually starting off much slower than I expected given the number of people who visit the site every day, but hopefully in time people will get over their shyness and start posting more. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Good to have you here.

Just type them in in text and the BBS will convert them. Click the "faq" button on the discussion forum front page for more information.

Hi Charles,
The forums are a great edition to the site. I predict they will quickly become one of the most popular computer-oriented forums on the Internet.
I've been using the PC Guide since almost the first day it was up. I just looked through the new PC Buying Guide - just in time for my purchase of a new computer - and it looks very good. I like the way you've focused on helping people understand what it is they are buying.
But, I have to admit that I haven't been visiting here as often as I used to as much of the material on specifics is now dated. I can't imagine trying to keep the many pages of this site up to date, but might I suggest that you consider updating the motherboard, PC processors, and system chipsets sections next, as this appears to one area that's really changed a lot in the last 3 years. I know that I would find it very useful and I'm sure others would as well.

Well I hope you're right about that! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif Of course, I think it depends on one's definition of "quickly". I'm a pretty impatient person, but it takes time. I'm pleased to see the TS forum taking off, but the others seem to be drawing little interest so far.

Thank you. I am pretty proud of that buyer's guide; I haven't gotten much feedback on it yet but what I have received has been pretty positive.

You're 100% correct. As soon as I get this hard disk update done (which is taking way too much time) I will be hitting CPUs. The motherboard/BIOS/chipset area is going to be a ton of work, since those discussions are tightly integrated and there's a lot to change. I grossly underestimated the amount of time needed to keep all the stuff on this site up to date. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif I also didn't realize how little fun it is to just edit older material. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
Thanks again and enjoy the forums.
