I've just tried viavoice again (had several attempts before) I got it just to dictate text into word program, but can't get it to work.
I had it obey my commands (some of them) like open close etc. but when I get into word it wont dictate.
does/has anyone use voice activated dictation, what's good and what isn't?
I just want to switch it on when required for dictation (reports/stories) not for anything else.

I used ViaVoice a long time ago and never got it to work well. I picked up Dragon Naturally Speaking a couple of years ago, installed it, trained it, and spent a lot of time trying to correct errors that it put in my dictation. When I reformatted and reinstalled, I never got around to reinstalling it. I still plan to do so, but I am really not doing enough writing lately to hassle with it. I understand they stand at about 99% accuracy, but that means you have to correct one out of every hundred words which is a lot. You also don't get that accuracy until it has been thoroughly trained. Still not ready for prime time I believe....

Thanks Bud:
much as I thought. I wondered/hoped that there was something better.still its saved me wasting a lot of time on it. I will try again (sometime.) but it has gone to the back of the list again for now.
