System:

I have an AMD Athlon 1 gig processor, Gigabyte motherboard, 512 of DDR ram and a Matrox dual port agp video card.

Problem:

System started rebooting for no reason, usually when I plugged in my digital camera into the USB port. Now I installed a new graphics adapter, a MATROX MILLENIUM G450 DUAL HEAD 32MB. The system locked, so I had to cold boot. Now everytime I boot the system it brings up the Windows XP start screen and then attempts to go to the desktop but then I here some kind of click and it reboots my system. Basically it's in an infinite reboot. It says do I want to load original configuration or start normal or safe mode. I've done all and still it keeps rebooting.

I attempted to boot from the WinXP Pro installation cd for repair or re-install, but I got an error message while it was checking my system configuration. Basically it said:

file\i386\halacpi.dll could not be loaded. The error is 32768. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.

I'm not if this is hardware, Bios, OS or what. I would appreciate any help on this problem.

Thanks in advance,

Monte Darland

I will try that. I'll let you know what happens.

Thanks for your response.

On my BIOS it only allows me to change to either S1 (POS) S3 (STR). I also disabled all that I could in my power mgmgt. settings but I still get a reboot loop going.
