And what does it have to do with Backweb? Is this spyware? On my hard drive at C:\program files\data lifeguard\8263142\program\backweb-8263142.exe

Is this legit?

I believe Data Lifeguard is the utilities from Western Digital for their hard drives and it is not spyware. It is actually really helpful software if that is what it is.

Just to set your mind a rest about this, I suggest getting a copy of Spybot S&D (see links in MJC's post), and running it. If the program is spyware, Spybot will soon tell you.

Budfred is correct- Data Lifeguard (http://support.wdc.com/dlg/) is a helpful utility from Western Digital. (And one I've used myself as a matter of fact!)
