Everytime I get about to windows screen my system restarts.I thought it could be the os but I recently reformatted it and it still does it.So I thought it could be the power supply but my other hard drive, which is on another ide controller works fine. So maybe the controller is mess up so i put the hard drive that was restarting on another ide controller and it still does it could it be my hard drive? thanks

My drive is now clangy and make noises. Like a turn signal in a car. Guess its the end of the drive???
Probably...but get a bootdisk with scandisk on it and run scandisk in DOS and see if it comes up with errors it may be able to fix them...scandisk is located in the Windows\command folder, copy scandisk.exe to a bootdisk.

In addition to scan disk, most hard drive manufacturers have on their website a diagnostic program:
Maxtor: http://www.maxtor.com/Maxtorhome.htm
Click on Support->Desktop ATA Drives->Maxtor Desktop Drives->
Powermax
Seagate: http://www.seagate.com/support/seatools/
Western Digital: http://www.westerndigital.com/service/diagnostics.html
Download the appropriate file, create a bootable disk and check the drive out. They will tell you if anything is wrong with the drive. They will also supply you with information needed to call the manufacturer.
p.s. There might be some warranty left on the hard drive.
