How can I change my default media player in Win XP Pro.?

Two way s of trying this.

Open your prefered software and look for Set as default player

or

Right click on media file, select Open With (you might have to browes for the program) then choose the prefered program, ensuring that you tick Always use this... after that it should always open with that
