At the moment I have Win 98, but this week-end I want to do a clean install of Win 2K. I've read lots of info on different ways of doing this...from a 98 bootdisk, from the Win 2K startup disks, from booting from the Win 2K CD.
Which is really the better way to do this?
Also, if I change my bios to boot from the CD, at what point do I change it back to boot from the hard drive?
Thanks much.
Hi,
I personally use the booting from cd rom option if it is avaliable on the computer.
Once you have formatted the hard drive in the windows 2000 setup program and the setup program has copied the setup files across to the hard drive and it reboots for the first time, I normally change back the boot settings, as all the files you need have been copied to the hard drive.
If you don't change it back during the first reboot it often starts the setup program again or prompts you from which media to boot from.
Hope this helps

I would go here for instructions on installing it, this guy seems to have dug deep into how best to do this stuff:

He can also give you info on how to set it up to run most efficiently.
