Under System Information the plug and play sofware device enumerator states that This Device has a problem: Code=2(0x2) Device failure: Try changing the driver for this device. If that doesn't work, see your hardware documentation. Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ENUM\ROOT\SWENUM\0000
So the question is what does this mean and how do I fix it? Thanks so much for any help or ideas!

It means that some hardware device attached to your computer has a prolem with it's drivers. Problem can be finding which device, although anything with an "enumerator" in its title could well be a modem. Some system specs, operating system, and any info on what is not working properly will help sort it out.

Well the system is windows98 and I.E.5.5 and the pro3000 webcam won't work. After checking everything else it seems like it doesn't regonize the USB port which is plug & play. The USB port functions well with a scanner in either port. So seeing that plug & play error would seem to be the problem and would just assume fix it anyway if I only new how! Thanks

Webcams often seem to be tricky. Have you tried another USB port? If you don't have another, you might want to look at picking up a USB expanison hub, they can be found pretty cheap these days.

Also, have you checked in Device Manager to see if any devices have yellow exclamation marks next to them. If they do, let us know and we can help with ideas for fixing it.

There are no exclemation point errors.Ok, using Windows 98 and I.E.5.5. At least a year ago installed the Pro3000 webcam and everything worked fine. Then without anything new installed the webcam did not work any more. It claimed that the camera device is currently in use by another application. Tried every troubleshooting help from sites like these, from the webcam's site and even from the makers of the webcam where they even gave me another camera due to the warranty, but it's the same problem. It seems like it won't recognize the USB port which is plug and play. My scanner works fine on both ports. So doing some more of my own troubleshooting I found that plug & play error and would like to correct it, if I only new how, and would hope that is all or part of the problem. As far as for the camera device in use by another application I don't know what device they are talking about and don't have anything else running that would use a camera device that I know of. Hope this helps in finding a solution to the Plug and Play problem and the webcam problem in general! Thanks

Your scanner is another camera device. Do you have any resident software running background for the scanner? Have you checked to see what you have running background and shut down all but the essentials? I would check these options and maybe try your camera with the scanner unplugged from the USB port to see if it works that way.

Well the scanner didn't make any difference. However, troubleshooting further, it looks like the conflict is with the USB Host Controller as they are both in the same IRQ. Not interested in changing the Host Controller as that is the systems default and is used for other things on the computer. I may half to upgrade to a better USB card which I wouldn't know how to do. Any other ideas will be appreciated! Thanks
