Lately I have opened a few web sites that I have veiwed numerous times before and now get the following message: "To dislpay this page correctly, you need to download the following components,

Java Virtual Machine".

When I click download I am the directed to the Windows Internet Explorer web page and get the following message:

"Were sorry, the page you are veiwing requires that you have a more recent version of Microsoft Virtual Machine, please got to
Windows Update." I the go to Windows Update page and run the update thingy and it comes back with no new updates found.

I am using WindowsXP Home edition and have installed SP1.

Any ideas on how I lost this stuff and how to get it back would be appreciated.:)

you have a choice of two

1. http://java.sun.com/getjava/index.html

Which more people like

or

2. http://www.microsoft.com/java/

Generally, I have found that the Sun package is more reliable and less error prone. (As it should be, since Java is a Sun project.) So I guess you could say that I am one of the ones that likes Sun's better...;)

This is more of an additional question than a comment... I'm running XP Pro I have a need for MS Java support, SUN's isn't compatible with the pgm. Luckily I saved the exe of the last build of MS JVM to CD before they pulled it & it works.

My Q - I thought JVM was included in SP1?

I went to the Java site in the first reply and downloaded the latest
JVM (1.41 I think) and now everything works fine.

When I think back I believe I started having the problem after running
Spybot for the first time.

Thanks for all of the help.
