View Full Version : Removing files that are not there!
When my system boots before loading windows98 it refers to 4 VxDs that the system.ini or the registry wants to load but are not there. I have looked at the system.ini and find no reference to them and not sure how to edit the registry specifically to remove these files. So how do I stop windows requesting these files. System runs fine without them. Suggestions?

This is a common occurance when you "DELETE" a Win program rather than "Uninstall" it. The only way to get the errors at start up [they are caused by references in the Win.ini or System.ini or the Windows Registry that were not removed when the program was deleted] to go away is to find the incorrect information in these three areas and delete the "statements" in one or all of the three areas. The only other way to do it is a format/reinstall of the operating system.
