from www.prolific.com I downloaded the demo version of "serene aquarium" I installed it and when I opened it I get a windows that says
Error starting program
The aquarium.scr file is linked to missing export D3DXOF.dll:Direct X file create
then I clicked o.k. and get another windows that says
c:\windows\system\aquarium.scr
a device attached to the system is not functioning.
I did extract the file d3dxof.dll from my win98 disk but still it is not working as I still get the same msges

Have you read there FAQ?? I would read down to where it say's installation + you need to update your video driver...do you have it set on 16bit color

I checked and I did not see anything that adresses my particular problem,yes my drivers are updated and I run in 16bit color

Its one of two things,

1. graphics. 2. DirectX. (direct3D is linked to both)

what to do,

First id try and find the setup for DirectX,(on your C: driver) double click it and install it over the one thats on or download the DirectX 8.1 and install.

Second try and reinstall your graphics card drivers or motherboard drivers for onboard graphics.

This link (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=6086302C-4E21-44FB-AFB6-F59BBAED636B) is for DirectX8.2(right hand side top, download directplay8.2) and install it, try this first and post back.
If it doesnt work do you have a graphics card or onboard graphics? to check go into Control Panel/Systems/Device Manager and look for Display Adapter.
